Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is one of the main characters in the Harry Potter series of books by author J.K Rowling. He is the headmaster of Hogwarts and the founder of the Order of the Phoenix, the group started to fight off the evils of the Dark Lord Voldemort.
Dumbledore cares less about ‘purity of blood’ but places strong importance on the choices people make throughout life. Unlike most wizards, Dumbledore is not afraid of Voldemort and calls him by his proper name, Tom or Voldemort, rather than ‘he who must not be named’.
He is always calm and polite even to those who could be considered his enemies. While a great wizard he is often portrayed as slightly eccentric.
Dumbledore is a famous alchemist and is able to cast a phoenix Patronus, which has the power of rescuing him and others.
He becomes Harry’s mentor and champion, even through tough times, as he believes Harry Potter is the only one who can defeat Lord Voldemort.
To this end, he helps Harry by providing him with guidance and support. Early on in the stories Dumbledore hands down to Harry the invisibility cloak, which Dumbledore believes may be part of the Deathly Hallows. This allows Harry, along with Ron and Hermione, to embark on many adventures that would have otherwise been impossible.
