Ronald Bilius Weasley, or Ron Weasley, as he is better known, is another of the main characters in the Harry Potter books. Ron is a fellow Gryffindor and becomes great friends with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. Ron and Harry initially meet at the platform for the trip to Hogwarts, they share a carriage on the train and Ron is fascinated by Harry, ‘the boy who lived’, and Harry fascinated of Ron, an ordinary wizard.
Ron is slightly overshadowed by Harry’s success and celebrity status but is nevertheless a vital character in the stories and is vital in many of the adventures the trio embark on - he also becomes a bit of a celebrity himself for his association with Harry Potter.
Ron and Harry share much the same acedemic success and failures, however Harry is a more talented wizard, and they share most classes and spend most of their time together.
Often times Harry and Ron have brief fallouts due to spending so much time together but they always manage to make it up in the end. Ron and the Weasleys become almost a second family to Harry, who spends as much time there instead of at the Dudleys as he can.
Ron comes from a large family of traditional wizards, the Weasleys. His mother is an overly protective woman and often embarrasses him with odd Christmas presents and howling letters in public.
As the stories progress it becomes apparent that Ron’s mocking and teasing of Hermione is subsiding for admiration, fascination and even love.
